Mel Sarmiento takes oath as OPAPRU chief

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday administered the oath of office of Mel Senen Sarmiento as Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity.
Sarmiento replaced former Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., who retired from the post.

Sarmiento is tasked with overseeing the country’s Comprehensive Peace Process, which will advance peace negotiations and support the rehabilitation and social healing of former rebels.
Earlier, Malacañang said his appointment is especially significant amid the upcoming inaugural Bangsamoro elections. — JMA, GMA News
