The House Committee on Justice has issued a subpoena to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to present the results of its probe into alleged threats made by Vice President Sara Duterte in 2024.

Bukidnon Rep. John Keith Flores raised the motion on Wednesday during the continuation of the impeachment proceedings against Duterte.

“I move that we issue a subpoena ad testificandum and duces tecum for the NBI to present the results of its investigation on the alleged threats,” Flores said.

The panel approved the motion.

GMA News Online has reached out to Duterte’s camp for comment and will update this story once a response is received.

In 2024, Duterte said during an online briefing that she had ordered someone to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and then House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her were carried out.

In her Nov. 23, 2024 online press briefing, Duterte said she had instructed someone to act if she were killed or harmed.

“I have talked to a person. I said, ‘If I die, do not stop until you have killed BBM, Liza Araneta, and Martin Romualdez.’”

Following the statement, the NBI recommended the filing of a complaint against Duterte in February 2025.

Duterte later clarified that her remarks were not a threat, saying she was only highlighting an alleged threat to her own security and that her statement had been “maliciously taken out of logical context.”
