Cagayan de Oro housewife's P25 lotto bet wins P10M jackpot prize

A 50-year-old housewife’s persistence in placing lotto bets for over a decade finally bore fruit on April 7 after she won P10 million in the Lotto 6/42 draw of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).

In a statement on Wednesday, the PCSO said the lucky bettor from Cagayan de Oro City paid P25 for a Lucky Pick (LP) entry that won her the jackpot prize.

The lucky combination for the Lotto 6/42 draw on April 7 was 06-37-23-02-39-31, with a P10 million jackpot prize.

Accompanied by her daughter, the housewife flew to Manila and personally claimed her prize at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City on April 16.

During the turnover of the cheque, PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles advised the winner to use the jackpot prize wisely through long-term financial planning.

“I-invest mo yung napanalunan mo wisely. Pwede kang mag-put up ng business para lumago ‘yung napanalunan mo. Huwag din kakalimutang magpasalamat sa Diyos,” Robles said.

(Invest your winnings wisely. You can put up a business to grow your winnings. Don’t forget to thank the Lord.)

The housewife said she will invest her prize prudently by using part of it to build a modest home for her family in Cagayan de Oro City.

“Uunahin ko po na magkaroon po muna kami ng sariling bahay ng pamilya ko at ‘yung matitirang budget ay ilalaan ko sa maliit na negosyo para naman po sa pantustos sa pag-aaral ng aming mga anak,” she said.

(I will prioritize having a house for my family and I will use what is left for a small business to fund my children’s education.)

Lotto 6/42 draws are held and broadcast live on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. — JMA, GMA News
