Marcos vows increase in LGU funds if programs properly implemented

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Friday vowed to increase funding for local government units so they can expand and improve their programs.

Marcos made the remark during his visit in Batangas City as he graced the distribution of rice under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

He also witnessed the ongoing orientation of Presidential Scholars under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) and led the turnover of SCPF financial assistance to Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) Presidents.

In his speech, Marcos called on local officials to implement the programs properly in order to gain additional funds for next year.

"Pag sa ating mga government officials, sa ating mga local government, pagbutihan ninyo itong ginagawa nating mga programang ito,'' Marcos said.

(To our government officials, to our local governments, please improve these programs we are doing.)

"Pag maganda ang maging resulta nito, asahan ninyo sa susunod na budget, lalakihan pa namin ang pondo para dito,'' he added.

(If the results are good, expect that in the next budget, we will increase the funding for this.)

Through the rapid coordination of the Batangas provincial government with the administration, the use of the LGSF was immediately implemented.

This was a mechanism that aims to make the delivery of assistance to citizens faster, more direct, and more effective by strengthening local governments. — BAP, GMA News
