Bong Revilla camp questions credibility of state witness Roberto Bernardo

The camp of former senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr. on Wednesday questioned the credibility of state witness and former Public Works undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, saying the latter was not being upfront with his role in the flood control mess.

Lawyer Reody Balisi, counsel for Revilla in the P92.8 million malversation and graft case in connection with the flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

It can be recalled that Bernardo testified that he allegedly personally delivered P250 million worth of commitment fee or kickback to Revilla for infrastructure projects that the former senator pushed for funding under the 2025 national budget.

Another P250 million was also allegedly delivered to Revilla by Bernardo's driver, Vergel Niño Garcia.

“This is no longer simply about the allegations on record. Given recent developments, it is becoming increasingly difficult not to question whether Bernardo is merely a cooperating witness, or if his role runs far deeper than what has been presented,” Balisi said in a statement.

“The Revilla camp hopes that the Court will evaluate the case based on credible evidence,” he added.

Balisi earlier told reporters that Bernardo went on self-destruct mode since he instantaneously answered Zaldy Co when asked by the Sandiganbayan justices as to who is the mastermind of the flood control mess.

Bernardo, for his part, told the anti-graft court that he decided to turn a new leaf because he wants the ghost projects racketeering to stop. —AOL, GMA News
