Six Philippine universities have secured spots in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings.

Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) led the Philippine institutions, earning a spot in the 501–600 range of the rankings.

Meanwhile, four notable higher education institutions (HEIs)—De La Salle University (DLSU), Mapúa University, University of Santo Tomas (UST), and the University of the Philippines (UP)—all tied in the 601–800 bracket.

The Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) was placed in the 801+ category.

The six ranked universities demonstrated strong performance across all five core pillars of the THE rankings: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry Engagement.

"The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2026 ranks 929 universities from 36 countries/territories, assessing their research, teaching, knowledge transfer and international outlook using our trusted methodology, based on 18 performance indicators," the THE said.

In the latest Asia ranking, China dominated the top 10 anew, retaining first and second place and holding five of the top 10 spots.

Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong also secured spots in the top 10, while Malaysia joined the top 40 for the first time and doubled its top 100 places.

Yemen has a university ranked for the first time, the THE said. —LDF, GMA News
