Marcos leads aid distribution in Tacloban
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday led the distribution of assistance in Tacloban City, under the administration's ''Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang'' program.
During his visit, Marcos engaged with Presidential Scholars under the Socio-Civic Projects Fund (SCPF) and witnessed the rollout of the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).
Marcos also led the distribution of financial assistance to barangays across Region VIII.
''Gumawa kami ng programa, ang Bawat Barangay Makinabang, dahil ang gagawin nga namin ay bibigyan natin ng P200,000 ang kada barangay sa buong Pilipinas,'' Marcos said.
(We created a program, the Bawat Barangay Makikinabang, wherein we give P200,000 to each barangay across the country.)
'''Yung P200,000, ang kalahati noon ay gamitin para suportahan ang mga presidential scholars,'' he added.
(The half of the P200,000 will be used to support presidential scholars.)
The program, dubbed “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang,'' seeks to strengthen local government units through increased financial support to help them respond more effectively to the needs and concerns of their communities.
Marcos had since emphasized the crucial role of local government units, as they are considered as frontliners in public service, knowing the on-the-ground situation and being the first to hear their constituents’ concerns. —VAL, GMA News
