Former TV host Jay Sonza was transferred Friday from the headquarters of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Pasay to its facility in the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, his lawyer said.

"Maayos ang kanyang kalagayan at patuloy naming tinututukan ang lahat ng legal na hakbang para maprotektahan ang kanyang mga karapatan," Sonza's counsel Atty. Mark Tolentino said.

(His condition is good and we continue to closely monitor all legal steps to protect his rights.)

"Sa gitna ng pagsubok, mananatili tayong matatag—para sa hustisya, para sa due process, at para sa katotohanan," he added.

(Amid the challenges, we will remain strong—for justice, for due process, and for the truth.)

Sonza was arrested on Thursday night in Quezon City based on a warrant released by the Pasay RTC Branch 118.

He is facing charges for unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances under Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC), in relation to Republic Act 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 before the Pasay Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 118.

Upon his arrest, Sonza said he is ready to undergo due process.

Meanwhile, Tolentino earlier said the Sonza camp will question the issuance of a non-bailable warrant against him, saying this is "highly irregular" for the minor offense of unlawful publication.
