The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines on Sunday issued a flight safety advisory for the Mayon Volcano in Legazpi, Albay that erupted during the weekend.

“The CAAP advises the flying public, airline operators, general aviation operators, and all concerned aviation stakeholders that following the reported eruption of Mayon Volcano at 0343H on May 02, 2026, airspace restrictions have been implemented for flight safety,” it said.

“Based on NOTAM B1875/26 (replacing B1856/26), aircraft are not allowed to operate from the surface up to 11,000 feet within a 6-kilometer radius from the summit of Mayon Volcano,” the advisory said

CAAP stated the precautionary measure is being enforced due to the potential hazards posed by volcanic ash, airborne particles, and sudden volcanic activity, which may affect aircraft engines, navigation systems, and overall flight safety.

“All airline operators, pilots, dispatchers, and aviation stakeholders are advised to closely coordinate with Air Traffic Services and monitor official updates before operating in affected areas,” the agency said.
