Eric Celiz posts P36k bail over alleged fake news on Marcos' health
Social media personality Eric Celiz posted bail amounting to P36,000 before a Pasay court on Tuesday in connection with charges for allegedly spreading false information regarding the health of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his lawyer said.
Celiz is facing the charge of unlawful publication before the Pasay City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 119, according to his lawyer Atty. Mark Tolentino.
“Following the approval and acceptance of the bail bond by the Court, Ka Eric is deemed under the custody of the law by virtue of such bail,” Tolentino said in a statement.
“Accordingly, there exists no legal basis for his arrest in connection with the same case while the bail remains valid and subsisting,” he added.
Celiz is also facing a cyberlibel case before the Pasay RTC Branch 111.
“We remain committed to the rule of law and to the faithful observance of all constitutional guarantees, including the presumption of innocence and the right to due process,” he said.
The National Bureau of Investigation filed the complaint against Celiz in February, saying he published content on his Youtube channel. —VAL, GMA News
