PNP gains 63% trust, 61% satisfaction ratings in latest OCTA survey
A majority of adult Filipinos or 63% trust the Philippine National Police (PNP) while 61% were satisfied with their performance in the first quarter of the year, according to the latest Tugon ng Masa survey.
Adult Filipinos that have expressed trust reached 63% and satisfaction was pegged at 61% on the work turned in by the PNP based on the survey conducted from March 19 to 25, 2026 through face-to-face interviews of 1,200 probability respondents aged 18 and above, both male and female.
"Across major areas, Mindanao consistently records the highest trust (74%) and performance (69%) ratings, followed by Visayas," according to survey results.
"In contrast, the National Capital Region (NCR) posts the lowest trust (54%) and satisfaction (52%), along with higher levels of ambivalence."
For lower-income groups, expressed stronger confidence in the PNP than higher-income groups with trust and performance ratings are highest among Class E (83% trust, 62% performance) and Class D (66% trust, 65% performance), while Class ABC records significantly lower trust (42%) and performance (42%) ratings, alongside higher dissatisfaction and ambivalence.
The survey has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level. Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have margins of error of ±6% for NCR, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, also at a 95% confidence level.
Trust ratings
The OCTA survey showed that at least 63% reported trust compared to 17% who express distrust, resulting in a net trust rating of +46. Meanwhile, 19% remain ambivalent.
"Across major areas, trust in the PNP is highest in Mindanao (74%), followed by Visayas (66%). In contrast, lower trust levels are recorded in the National Capital Region (NCR) at 54% and Balance Luzon at 59%," the survey showed.
Meanwhile, by socioeconomic class, the trust is highest among Class E (83%), followed by Class D (66%), and lowest among Class ABC (42%).
Performance ratings
At least 61% of adult Filipinos express satisfaction with the performance of the PNP, while 20% express dissatisfaction, resulting in a net performance rating of +41. Meanwhile, 19% remain ambivalent.
"Across major areas, satisfaction with the PNP’s performance is highest in Mindanao (69%), followed by Visayas (63%) and Balance Luzon (59%), while the lowest level is recorded in the National Capital Region (NCR) at 52%," the survey showed.
On the basis of socioconomic class, satisfaction is highest among Class D (65%) and Class E (62%), and lowest among Class ABC (42%). — BAP, GMA News
