The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has a copy of the International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest warrant against Senator Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa in connection with the crimes against humanity case involving former President Rodrigo Duterte, former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said on Monday.

Trillanes made the statement as he showed reporters what he claimed was a copy of the arrest warrant, which he said was the reason for his presence at the Senate premises on Monday.

The former senator said he went to the Senate to join NBI personnel who were allegedly set to arrest dela Rosa, supposedly in response to a previous request from the senator himself.

“Personal request na samahan ko raw pag-aarestuhin siya. Nandito ngayon para arestuhin siya, kaya nandito ako. Nandito ang NBI, aarestuhin siya,” Trillanes said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said it “has not seen or received a copy of any alleged warrant.”

Dela Rosa made a surprise appearance at the Senate on Monday, just in time for the opening of the session and shortly before allies of Vice President Sara Duterte pushed for a leadership change that ousted Senate President Tito Sotto III.
