In case Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa is not the first senator to be arrested while inside the Senate, it can be recalled that former senators Leila de Lima and Antonio Trillanes IV were arrested for various cases while inside the Senate building, according to a report on "State of the Nation."

In 2017, De Lima was arrested while inside the Senate for cases related to the illegal drug trade.

With the coordination of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Senate Sergeant at Arms, an arrest warrant was served.

De Lima surrendered but insisted that she was innocent of the charges.

The former senator and now Mamamayang Liberal Party List Representative has since been cleared of all charges.

Trillanes, in 2018, was placed in Senate Protective custody by then Senate President Tito Sotto. His arrest was on the charge of rebellion after former President Rodrigo Duterte withdrew his amnesty.

Trillanes was arrested and placed in Senate custody before filing for bail.
