Lacson: Blue Ribbon findings on flood control mess 'won't go to waste' amid leadership changes
Amid the changes in the leadership of the Senate, Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson on Tuesday said the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee findings on the flood control anomalies "would not go to waste".
Lacson said the powerful Senate panel had already contributed to the fact-finding and case buildup efforts of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Office of the Ombudsman against some personalities.
"Our findings would not go to waste," Lacson said in a news release.
"First of all, we already contributed to the preliminary investigation of the DOJ and Office of the Ombudsman, through testimonial and documentary evidence," he said.
Last week, the legislator said the committee is preparing a transmittal letter to the Ombudsman to provide the key findings on the legislative inquiries.
Lacson also delivered a progress report on the investigation into the flood control mess as he urged other senators to sign the partial report.
Seven senators have so far signed the partial committee report including himself, and Senators Vicente "Tito" Sotto III, Bam Aquino, Raffy Tulfo, Risa Hontiveros, Erwin Tulfo, and Francis “Kiko”Pangilinan.
Only two signatures are needed for the report to be sponsored and presented to the Plenary.
In March, Lacson said the Blue Ribbon Committee's partial report on the flood control controversy could be placed in the archives if the panel fails to secure enough signatures by the time the 20th Congress adjourns sine die on June 5, 2026. —RF, GMA News
