The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Thursday said there is no record that Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa left the country today, following reports that he has left the Senate premises.

“No recent travel po,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.

When asked whether he flew to another part of the country, Sandoval said the BI has no access to domestic flights.

Citing a member of the Senate secretariat, a senator earlier confirmed that Dela Rosa left the Senate premises at around 2:30 a.m.

On Wednesday evening, gunshots rang out at the Senate amid a lockdown at the upper chamber, where Dela Rosa was under protective custody.

National Bureau of Investigation Director Melvin Matibag has denied that their agents deployed at the Senate building. He said that they were only deployed at the GSIS building.

For his part, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. earlier said that there was no instruction to arrest the senator.

Dela Rosa is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity of murder in connection with the drug war of former president Rodrigo Duterte.

The ICC warrant of arrest mentioned Dela Rosa’s “alleged criminal responsibility as an indirect co-perpetrator” in the crimes against humanity of murder from July 3, 2016, until the end of April 2018, wherein at least 32 persons died.

Dela Rosa was the PNP chief at the height of the Duterte administration’s bloody drug war campaign. —RF, GMA News
