Senate shooting CCTV videos turned over to police, PNP says

CCTV footage related to the shooting incident at the Senate has already been turned over to the Philippine National Police for analysis, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said Friday.

At a press briefing, Tuaño said the videos from inside and outside the Senate premises were submitted to the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group for examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

“Ang CCTV po ay nai-turnover na sa Anti-Cybercrime Group for preservations at analyzations. Ito ay kasalukuyan na nilang inaalisa,” he said.

The results of the analysis will later be submitted to the composite investigation team handling the case.

Tuaño said PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has advised the public to wait for the official findings to avoid speculation and premature conclusions about the incident.

The PNP has already conducted an initial 3D reconstruction of the shooting incident, which was created by the Forensic Group.

According to Tuaño, the reconstruction focuses on bullet trajectories, spent shells, bullet holes, and other forensic evidence gathered from the scene.

Nartatez is currently reviewing the reconstruction results before the release of the initial findings to the public, Tuaño said.

Tuano explained that the trajectory analysis may help investigators determine whether the shots originated from inside or outside the premises, as well as identify where the armed individuals involved in the incident were positioned.

Aside from CCTV footage, Tuaño said authorities are also requesting body camera footage, media recordings, and personal videos that may serve as additional evidence in the investigation.

Gunshots were heard at the Senate on Wednesday evening when the chamber was on lockdown. It was also that time that Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa was under Senate protective custody.
