VP Sara urges 2026 PMA grads: Defend sovereignty, personify integrity
Vice President Sara Duterte on Saturday called on the new graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) to bring pride, honor, and dignity to the country and be steadfast against threats to its sovereignty.
“Be the bearers of our nation’s pride, honor, and dignity. I urge you to personify integrity and courage at all times. Stand firm against all threats to our sovereignty and our liberties. Do not waver, even in the face of the most difficult challenges,” Duterte said in a video message.
Duterte said their graduation was “the culmination of a rigorous journey—one defined by discipline, sacrifice, and an unwavering sense of duty.”
She further urged them to put to good use the training and values the PMA has instilled in them.
“May your service be a testament to your determination to protect our country and uphold the welfare of every Filipino,” she said.
Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa had also appealed to fellow PMA alumni to uphold the country's sovereignty amid the arrest warrant issued against him by the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with the alleged abuses in the Duterte administration's war on drugs.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Saturday called on the new PMA graduates to veer away from politics, reminding them that their loyalty lies with the nation and not with any individual. —VBL, GMA News
