Manuel Parlade named Senate OSAA OIC

Manuel Parlade has been named officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) following the preventive suspension of retired Police Major General Aplasca.

The Ombudsman placed Aplasca under a six-month preventive suspension as it launched its fact-finding investigation into the shooting incident at the Senate last May 13.

Parlade currently serves as Director III of the OSAA. He was instrumental in serving the subpoena and subsequent arrest order against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founding leader Apollo Quiboloy for refusing to attend legislative hearings investigating allegations of human trafficking, rape, and child abuse in 2024.

Last week, several gunshots were fired inside the Senate building on Wednesday evening amid an ongoing lockdown, causing panic and alarm among people still inside the upper chamber’s premises.

The shooting incident transpired while Senator Ronald “Bato” Rosa was still under the Senate’s protective custody.

Malacañang on Thursday said Aplasca made the first "warning shot" during the incident. —KG, GMA News
