VP Sara Duterte honors Navy for defending PH sovereignty

Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday paid tribute to the Philippine Navy during the celebration of its 128th anniversary.

In a video message, Duterte cited the Philippine Navy’s role in protecting the country’s maritime territory amid continuing challenges at sea.

“Higit sa lahat, kinikilala ko ang inyong paninindigan para sa soberanya at integridad ng ating teritoryong pandagat. Sa gitna ng mga hamon sa ating karagatan, kayo ang nagsisilbing unang linya ng depensa,” she said.

(Above all, I recognize your commitment to the sovereignty and integrity of our maritime territory. Amidst the challenges in our oceans, you serve as the first line of defense.)

“Hindi biro ang inyong tungkulin—ang protektahan ang ating teritoryo ay pagtitiyak sa kinabukasan ng susunod na henerasyon ng mga Pilipino,” she added.

For Duterte, the Philippine Navy’s role is vital in building a nation that is free, stable, and peaceful.

Duterte also encouraged the Philippine Navy to continue its efforts in protecting “what is rightfully ours.”

“Manatili kayong tapat sa inyong sinumpaang tungkulin, at sa ating saligang batas anuman ang pagsubok na inyong kaharapin sa gitna ng laot,” she said.

(Remain committed to your sworn duty, and to our constitution, no matter what trials you face in the middle of the ocean.)
