House sees changes in leadership of several committees
At least three members of the House of Representatives lost their leadership posts in a minor tweak of the committee chairmanships in the chamber.
On Wednesday, the plenary approved the motion of Batangas Rep. Ryan Recto, who sought to reconsider the election of Reps. Roger Mercado of Southern Leyte and Dale Corvera of Agusan del Norte as vice chairpersons of the committee on appropriations.
The plenary also approved Recto’s motion to replace Mercado and Rep. Ramil Hernandez of Laguna as chairpersons of the committee on population and family relations and the committee on Southern Tagalog development, respectively.
Mercado was replaced by Rep. Edwin Ongchuan of Northern Samar. Hernandez's post was taken over by Rep. Loreto Amante of Laguna.
The House leadership did not state the reason for the changes. —Llanesca Panti/LDF, GMA News
