PNP recommends Bato dela Rosa gun license revocation
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it has recommended the revocation of Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa's gun license amid the arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
In a press briefing, Civil Security Group (CSG) - Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) servicing legal officer Police Lieutenant Colonel Domer Tadeo said Firearms License Revocation and Restoration Board (FLRRB) made the recommendation.
“The FEO board recommends to cancel,” Tadeo said.
This will be subject to the approval of the FEO chief Police Brigadier General Jose Manalad Jr. before implementation.
Tadeo said the FEO already initiated a motu proprio investigation last week, even before any formal request from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was filed.
The FEO board identified grounds for cancellation under Republic Act 10591 due to a pending criminal case carrying a penalty of more than two years.
Tadeo said the revocation process could include confiscation of firearms if the cancellation is approved.
The PNP official declined to disclose the number of firearms registered under Dela Rosa’s name, citing the Data Privacy Act.
Dela Rosa would be formally notified and could file a motion for reconsideration or voluntarily surrender the firearms, according to Tadeo.
Failure to surrender firearms after cancellation could result in police action through legal procedures, he added. — BAP, GMA News
