DepEd wraps up nationwide reforms orientation for SY 2026-2027
The Department of Education (Department of Education) has concluded its nationwide orientation series on its “Learning Systems Reform Policies” for the school year 2026–2027, the agency said in a press release on Tuesday.
“Alam nating maraming pagbabago ang kailangang paghandaan ng ating mga guro at school leaders. Kaya mahalagang sapat ang kanilang kaalaman at kumpiyansa sa pagsisimula ng implementasyon,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara.
(We recognize that there are many changes our teachers and school leaders need to prepare for. That is why it is important that they have sufficient knowledge and confidence as implementation begins.)
DepEd Central Office officials conducted a series of orientations across all regions nationwide, concluding with Region IV-B (MIMAROPA).
The orientation covered key learning system reforms, including:
- Three-term school calendar
- Revised guidelines on lesson planning
- Classroom assessment, grading system, awards, and recognition
- Flexible learning programs
- Education in emergencies
- Work immersion
- Strengthened senior high school curriculum
Earlier this month, Angara clarified that the three-term school calendar reform will only reorganize the academic year into three terms, while retaining the same subjects, curriculum standards, and required number of school days.
According to DepEd, the orientation series reflects President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to “strengthen basic education reforms through clearer implementation support for teachers, school leaders, and learners.”
In its press release, the agency said it will continue providing monitoring, feedback mechanisms, and technical assistance to schools during the transition.—MCG, GMA News
