Four remaining Discaya-linked cars sold at P12.276M —BOC

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Wednesday announced that the four remaining vehicles linked to the controversial contractor couple Curlee and Sarah Discaya were finally sold through a negotiated sale.

In a statement, the BOC said the sale of four remaining Discaya vehicles marked the full disposal of all vehicles seized from the couple in connection with the flood control corruption scandal.

The Customs said it expects total proceeds of about P12,276,000 from the four Discaya cars:

  • 2022 GMC XL Yukon Denali sold at P3.209 million,
  • 2021 Cadillac Escalade sold at P3.750 million,
  • 2022 Maserati Levante Modena sold at P2.008 million, and
  • 2022 GMC Yukon Denali sold at P3.309 million.

Including a Volvo XC90 2009 valued at P70,000, the BOC is projecting the total proceeds from the negotiated sale of forfeited, abandoned, and seized items to reach P12,346,000.

Meanwhile, the bureau has generated a total of P114,744,884.15 from the auction and negotiated sale of all 13 Discaya vehicles, which will be remitted to the Bureau of the Treasury.

“Today’s completion of the disposal of all remaining Discaya vehicles reflects the Bureau’s firm commitment to transparency, accountability, and decisive action in the management of forfeited assets. More importantly, it demonstrates our continued efforts to ensure that government resources are properly utilized in a manner that serves the best interests of the Filipino people,” said Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno.

The BOC said the results of the negotiated sale remain subject to the approval of the Secretary of the Department of Finance pursuant to Customs Memorandum Order No. 26-2020. —AOL, GMA News
