PNP to deploy cops nationwide for safe opening of classes on June 8, 2026
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said it will deploy cops nationwide to secure schools, transport hubs, and major roads ahead of the opening of classes on June 8, 2026.
In a statement, PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police units across the country were directed to intensify visibility patrols, traffic management, and public assistance operations.
“We will deploy our personnel across all regions to establish a highly visible, reassuring police presence that deters criminals and ensures our schools remain secure, peaceful sanctuaries for learning,” he said.
The PNP will focus on strict traffic management, intensified street patrols, and elimination of any threat or gang activity near school zones, according to Nartatez.
Police commanders across the country were also instructed to closely coordinate with school administrators, barangay officials, and local traffic management offices to maintain peace and order around schools.
Also, police assistance desks would be activated in strategic areas near schools to respond to public concerns and emergencies immediately.
The PNP called on the public to help maintain safety during the opening of classes, especially in crowded public areas where students may be vulnerable to theft, scams, and other street crimes.
“A safe school opening is a shared responsibility, and we highly encourage parents, barangay officials, and local volunteers to actively collaborate with our personnel on the ground through quick reporting of suspicious individuals or activities,” Nartatez said.
On Thursday, the Department of Education said it has activated its nationwide Oplan Balik Eskwela program for the School Year 2026-2027.
