Jinggoy Estrada would ‘most probably’ surrender once arrest warrant out

Senator Jinggoy Estrada would most probably surrender in case the Sandiganbayan issues an arrest warrant against him over alleged kickbacks from flood control projects, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Friday.

“I think most probably surrender. Surrender yan. This is the third time, sanay na naman siya sa kung ano ang gagawin niya,” Remulla said in an ambush interview.

(I think most probably surrender. He would surrender. This is the third time, he's already used to what he's going to do.)

According to Remulla, Estrada said he would think about his decision, citing concerns over his health, particularly his need for a knee replacement surgery.

Asked if Estrada would appeal for a hospital arrest, the DILG secretary said medical matters would be up to the court to evaluate.

“Hindi, ang gagawin ko lang, ang concern niya 'yung tuhod niya. So, it's up to the Sandigan's appreciation kung ibibigay sa kanya 'yung ganun,” Remulla said.

(No, all I will do is…his concern is his knee. So, it’s up to the Sandigan's appreciation if they will grant him that," Remulla said.

“Whatever comes first, surrender or re-arrest. We will do whatever is necessary,” he added.

Remulla said authorities would still follow standard police procedures should Estrada surrender, including documentation, medical examination, and processing before turnover.

Remulla vowed that no special treatment will be given to Estrada. —AOL, GMA News
