Former Public Works Secretary Manuel Bonoan has posted a P90,000 bail before the Sandiganbayan Second Division on Friday to secure temporary freedom amid a pending graft charge filed against him, Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Geraldine Econg said.

“Yes,” Econg replied to reporters when asked if Bonoan was able to post bail for the graft charge leveled against him in connection with this alleged involvement in the anomalous flood control projects.

Earlier in the day, Bonoan’s co-accused, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, also posted a P90,000 bail due to the same graft charge.

Bonoan and Estrada are facing another graft and plunder charges in the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division.

Ombudsman prosecutors allege that Estrada received as much as P573 million worth of kickbacks from the government’s flood control projects with the help of his other four co-accused in the case, including Bonoan. —LDF, GMA News
