Palace to gov't agencies: Support NAPOLCOM's crime prevention program
Malacañang has ordered national government agencies to support the country’s crime prevention efforts towards promoting public safety and an efficient criminal justice system.
This was contained in Memorandum Circular 120 dated May 21 and signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto as authorized by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
National government agencies were directed to support the implementation of the 2026 National Criminal Prevention Program (NCPP).
The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) was tasked to lead the implementation of the NCPP.
The NCPP advances core strategic objectives, such as strengthening community-based crime prevention initiatives; modernizing tools, technologies, and digital infrastructure; and enhancing law enforcement capability and professionalism.
It also seeks to establish a national crime prevention knowledge management program; and improve coordination across the police, prosecution, courts, corrections, and reintegration sectors to ensure a unified and effective criminal justice chain.
These initiatives shall be supported by legislative modernization, governance reforms, enhanced data interoperability, and strengthened institutional integrity.
Local government units (LGUs) were also encouraged to “support the implementation of the 2026 NCPP, as well as the programs, activities, and projects specified therein.”
The Palace said funding requirements for the implementation of MC 120 shall be charged against the current and available appropriations of NAPOLCOM and other concerned government agencies. — JMA, GMA News
