Sherwin Gatchalian, Erwin Tulfo mull legal action vs Mike Defensor

Senators Sherwin Gatchalian and Erwin Tulfo are mulling legal action against former lawmaker Mike Defensor for claiming that the Blue Ribbon committee will be resuming its probe into the flood control controversy.

Gatchalian said Defensor was fooling the public with his announcement that the Senate panel would be conducting a hearing.

"Definitely niloloko niya 'yung tao, definitely gumagawa siya ng confusion dahil dun sa post niya na Blue Ribbon hearing e hindi naman siya chairman, hindi naman siya member, hindi naman siya senador. Bakit niya nililinlang ang tao?" he told reporters.

"So kausap ko si Senator Erwin, pinag-aaralan namin ang legal action dahil niloloko niya ang taumbayan. Hindi tama 'yan dahil pag ginagamit niya ang titulo ng Senado, hindi tama 'yan dahil panloloko ang ginagawa," he added.

In a social media post on Sunday evening, Defensor called on the public to join and support a Blue Ribbon committee hearing that will be held in an events place outside the Senate.

He also urged the public to support the 18 individuals who claimed delivering suitcases of money to several personalities.

Tulfo said Monday that there will be no Blue Ribbon committee hearing on June 16.

Gatchalian also said there is a possibility that the supposed flood control hearing could be related to destabilization efforts.

"Based on our communication with the AFP and PNP, it's possible na destab-related siya. I won't go into the details, but based on our conversation with them yesterday, possible," he said.

In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB earlier in the day, Tulfo said the gathering can also be considered as a usurpation of authority if the Cayetano bloc will insist on calling it a Blue Ribbon hearing.

"Pag-aaralan 'yang ginagawa nila kasi hindi naman puwedeng anytime, hahanap sila ng lugar, magpapatawag na Blue Ribbon hearing eh hindi naman Blue Ribbon eh 'yan malinaw na usurpation of authority 'yan dahil hindi naman sila ang Blue Ribbon (What they are doing will be studied because they cannot just book a venue anytime and call it a Blue Ribbon hearing. That is clearly a usurpation of authority because they are not the Blue Ribbon committee)," he said.

On Tuesday afternoon, Defensor facilitated an event where the 18 former bodyguards of former lawmaker Zaldy Co narrated how they allegedly delivered suitcases of money to several personalities.—AOL, GMA News
