OTS files criminal raps vs. personnel who allegedly stole from foreign passenger

The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) on Friday filed criminal complaints against its Security Screening Officers (SSOs) who allegedly committed theft against a foreign passenger while in the performance of their official duties.

In a statement, the OTS said the complaints were filed with the Office of the Ombudsman by OTS Administrator Undersecretary Gilberto DC Cruz, Deputy Administrator, and lawyer Carlo Bala.

Cruz reminded all OTS employees of their absolute accountability in public service.

"Government personnel must serve the public with utmost integrity and ensure that every passenger who steps in our airports feels safe, respected, and completely secure," Cruz said.

He also warned that OTS personnel involved in criminal activities while in the performance of their official duties will be administratively and criminally held liable for the same.

"This decisive action highlights the agency's commitment to promote transparency, accountability, and public trust, ensuring that Philippine gateways remain safe and secure for all travelers, both domestic and foreign," the OTS added. — VDV, GMA News
