Lacson: Alan Peter Cayetano nearing a meltdown amid 'lapdog' remark
Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson on Saturday slammed the "lapdog" remarks of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano saying it seems that he may be on the brink of a "meltdown."
"Kawawa naman. Kung anu-ano na sinasabi. Parang malapit nang bumigay. Sana hindi matuluyang mag meltdown," Lacson said in a post on X.
(I pity him. He's now saying all sorts of things. It seems he's about to break down. I hope it doesn't lead to a full meltdown.)
"ASO? I WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT. Pero, siya - Kuya Ping ang tawag niya sa akin - matagal na… SELF-ADMISSION yata ang tawag dun," Lacson added.
(Me, a dog? I will never admit that. But for him to have called me 'Kuya Ping' and then call me a dog, it could be a case of self-admission for him.)
Cayetano's remarks
On Friday, Cayetano called newly elected Senate President Pro Tempore Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Senator Raffy Tulfo of being “lapdogs” of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. He also called Senator Erwin Tulfo a “lapdog” of Lacson, supposedly because of information that the latter has on the first-term senator.
“Sabi nila, sabi ni Raffy Tulfo, hindi daw sila Malacañang, in other words, hindi sila tuta,” Cayetano said.
(Raffy Tulfo said they were not under Malacanang; in other words, they are not lapdogs.)
“But doon mo makikita yung graduated and experienced. Bakit? Kasi si Senator Tito Sotto and Raffy Tulfo, at least sila tuta ng Malacañang, pero si Erwin Tulfo, tuta lang ni Lacson,” Cayetano said.
(But that is where you see who has graduated and is experienced. Why? Because Senators Tito Sotto and Raffy Tulfo are at least lapdogs of Malacañang, while Erwin Tulfo is only Lacson’s lapdog.)
“Si Lacson? Hindi na po tuta si Lacson, aso na po siya. Matagal na,” he added.
(Lacson is no longer a lapdog; he has long been a dog that carries out orders.)
He explained that by “aso,” he meant someone who follows orders and carries out instructions.
GMA News Online has reached out to Cayetano for comment but he has yet to reply as of posting time.
'Quicksand mentality'
Lacson, meanwhile, recalled that he adopted and assisted Cayetano when he first ran in the Arroyo administration's midterm senatorial elections in 2007. Cayetano squared off with a nuisance candidate named Joselito Cayetano who went by the nickname of “Peter.”
Lacson and Cayetano both ran under the then "Genuine Opposition" alongside several opposition candidates including the late Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, Lorna Regina "Loren" Legarda, Francis "Chiz" Escudero, and Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III.
However, Lacson said Cayetano had fallen into "quicksand mentality" after the latter did a series of Facebook Live posts to justify his "Senate presidency."
Lacson previously claimed that around P700 million in public funds were allegedly wasted less than a month into the senate presidency of Cayetano.
Lacson further said the 28 days under Cayetano's "leadership" had zero legislative output and was instead marred by several controversies.
"QUICKSAND MENTALITY: Defending the indefensible and justifying the unjustifiable. Ex. comparing two different expenses without showing the receipts," Lacson said. —VAL, GMA News
