Sara Duterte: 'Fatherhood also defined by dedication to Filipino people'
Vice President Sara Duterte penned her Father’s Day greetings to Filipinos on Sunday, stressing that fatherhood can be defined by one’s dedication to the people.
“Today is a reminder that fatherhood is not only defined by family ties, but also by sacrifice and dedication extended to the Filipino people,” she said in a statement.
“Happy Father’s Day to the nameless and faceless frontliners, OVP personnel and security teams – na ginagawa ang lahat para sa Diyos, sa Bayan, at para sa bawat Pamilyang Pilipino (who do everything for God, country, and for the Filipino family),” she added.
Duterte also recognized the fathers working in the Office of the Vice President (OVP).
“To all the fathers in the Office of the Vice President, who take no rest and who work tirelessly in disaster response, often without acknowledgement, your efforts form the backbone of everything we are able to achieve,” she said.
She also thanked those working behind the scenes amid the impeachment case that she is facing in the Senate.
“Even in the face of political attacks against my person, in the guise of ‘public interest’ or ‘accountability,’ that overshadows your hard work and sleepless nights, you continue to show up and persevere with professionalism,” Duterte said.
The Vice President is facing charges of culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, betrayal of public trust, bribery and other high crimes.
A pre-trial conference began on June 18 and is expected to end by this week. The trial is scheduled to begin on July 6.
“And to the attached security and support teams who ensure safety and stability every day –thank you for standing watch so that others may work and live without fear,” Duterte added.
“Some of you spend days like today away from your children and families, quietly ensuring that others can celebrate theirs in peace.” — JMA, GMA News
