State witness Henry Alcantara vows to return P300M from flood control fund scam
State witness Henry Alcantara has committed to return P300 million to the government by 2027 as part of his admission into the government’s Witness Protection Program (WPP), in exchange for his testimony on the alleged flood control fund mess.
Alcantara disclosed this during the hearing of the graft case against former Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. and six others over the P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, which investigators said had no physical structure.
“It’s P300 million, Your Honor,” Alcantara said when asked by Sandiganbayan Fourth Division Chairperson and Associate Justice Michael Musngi how much the former Bulacan district engineer had agreed to return to state coffers under the WPP.
So far, Alcantara said he has returned P181 million of the amount.
“By September this year, I will return P25 million. By the end of 2027, I will have fully paid it,” he told the court.
Musngi later asked Alcantara about his net worth, to which he replied: “P18 million.”
The magistrate then pointed out that Alcantara’s declared net worth in his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) appeared inaccurate.
“Yes,” Alcantara admitted when asked if he was aware of the discrepancy.—MCG, GMA News
