Senator Marcoleta attends INC rally at EDSA
Senator Rodante Marcoleta showed up at the rally by Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) at the EDSA People Power Monument on Wednesday evening.
According to Mark Salazar’s report on “24 Oras”, Marcoleta said in his speech that he was not supposed to attend the protest as he doesn’t want people to have the impression that he instigated the protest.
He also took the chance to thank his supporters and fellow INC members. The senator added that he’s ready to be jailed if that’s what it takes to fight for justice.
Marcoleta also questioned why the Office of the Ombudsman was portraying him as a villain when, he said, both sides shared the same objective.
Before Marcoleta, former congressman Mike Defensor also went on stage to express his support for the senator.
During the evening program, some speakers on stage lamented that the police are allegedly preventing other protesters from arriving from the south.
However, the Quezon City local government said that the rally permit for Thursday, July 2 was revoked. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/LDF, GMA News
