PNP-CIDG ready to serve warrant of arrest against Rodante Marcoleta
Authorities said on Friday that they are prepared to serve the warrant of arrest against Senator Rodante Marcoleta upon the issuance of the Sandiganbayan.
In a “24 Oras” report by Jun Veneracion, the Philippine National Police (PNP) had finalized its protocol and system for the possible arrest.
If Marcoleta’s arrest warrant is issued while he is within the Senate premises, authorities will coordinate with the Senate leadership, according to PNP Public Information Office Chief Colonel Allen Rae Co.
On Friday, the Office of the Ombudsman filed a plunder case against Marcoleta before the Sandiganbayan over the P75 million in campaign contributions that he received ahead of the 2025 senatorial elections but which were not declared in his Statement of Campaign Expenditures.
Referencing the previous arrests of high-profile individuals, tjhe report said that the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) is the agency that serves warrants.
In a text message, Secretary of the Interior and Local Government Jonvic Remulla told GMA News to wait for the official arrest warrant from the Sandiganbayan.
Under the usual booking procedures, an arrested suspect is taken to the PNP-CIDG office in Camp Crame for fingerprinting, medical examinations, and the taking of mug shots.
After the identification and documentation in Camp Crame, the suspect will be taken before the Sandiganbayan for the Return of the Warrant. —Lyjah Tiffany Bonzo/LDF, GMA News
