Marcos, Singapore's Wong hold talks on trade, health, social development

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. met with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Wednesday to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries, Malacañang said.

Marcos and Wong reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between the Philippines and Singapore during a meeting at the Istana, which houses the offices of Singapore's president and prime minister.

“The two leaders discussed expanding trade, harnessing opportunities in artificial intelligence, attracting more investments, and strengthening collaboration in health and social development. They also agreed to pursue new bilateral agreements that will further benefit both nations,” the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said.

“The Philippines and Singapore reaffirmed their shared commitment in keeping ASEAN as a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region with greater opportunities for their peoples,” it added.

Marcos is on a working visit to Singapore from July 14 to 16. He is also scheduled to meet with business leaders and investors at the Milken Institute Private Roundtable Discussion.

Meanwhile, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos is set to deliver a message at the Global Economic Cooperation East Summit. —VBL, GMA News
