National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Melvin Matibag on Friday named the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) members who will be subpoenaed for its investigation.

According to Matibag, the NBI will issue a subpoena for Ramon Suzara, Dexter Estacio, and John Lester Buencosejo on Monday, compelling them to appear before the bureau on Friday.

“Ad testificandum and deuces tecum po itong ipapadala natin,” Matibag said.

Matibag previously said that the bureau is launching a probe into the alleged anomalies in the bidding and funding of projects for the 2019 SEA Games after the “bureau received new information and documents" involving the PHISGOC.

Meanwhile, he said he would also ask the PHISGOC members to explain the role of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano in the organization.

“Officially, based on the record ng SEC, ‘yung hawak nating record ngayon, ay hindi po naman lumalabas ‘yung kanyang pangalan,” Matibag said.

(Officially, based on the record of SEC, the record we are holding right now, is that his name is not appearing.)

Cayetano and his sister, Senator Pia Cayetano, previously slammed the investigation as a tactic meant to intimidate him as a senator-judge in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.

“Meron lang ako na-notice dito, nakakapagtaka. Nung binanggit natin na iimbestigahan natin ito, bakit kaya nag react si Senator Cayetano, Alan Peter Cayetano? Eh wala naman po ‘yung pangalan niya dito,” he said.

(I only noticed one thing here that I find puzzling. When we said we would investigate this, why did Senator Alan Peter Cayetano react? His name isn’t even mentioned here.)—LDF, GMA News
