Robin Padilla tops Pulse Asia senatorial survey for May 2028 polls

Senator Robin Padilla topped the survey for preferred senatorial candidates in the May 2028 elections, Pulse Asia said Wednesday.

In a survey conducted from June 28 to July 3 and 6, Padilla was chosen by 48.4% of the respondents, putting him in 1st to 2nd places followed by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto with 47.9%, 1st to 3rd places.

Of the 53 names presented to respondents, 17 personalities, mostly incumbent and former lawmakers, have a statistical chance of winning if the May 2028 polls were conducted during the survey period.

Included in the list were Senator Raffy Tulfo, 43.9%, 2nd to 5th places; Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, 43.2%, 3rd to 5th places; Senator Loren Legarda, 40.3%, 3rd to 5th places; former senator Manny Pacquiao, 35.6%, 6th to 7th places; and Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay, 32.4%, 6th to 7th places.

Also in the winning list were Education Secretary Sonny Angara, 27.2%, 8th to 9th places; Senator Mark Villar, 26.1%, 8th to 9th places; Ben Tulfo, 20.7%, 10th to 12th places; Senator Jinggoy Estrada, 19.5%, 10th to 17th places; Willie Revillame, 19.0%, 10th to 17th places; Senator Francis Escudero, 17.2%, 11th to 19th places; former AnaKalusugan Party-List representative Michael Defensor, 17.1%, 11th to 20th places; former Senator Manuel Roxas II, 17.1%, 11th to 20th places); Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, 17.0%, 11th to 20th places; and Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) Chief Operating Officer (COO) Mark T. Lapid, 16.9%, 11th to 21st places.

The survey also showed that 89% of Filipinos are interested in the May 2028 polls; however, only 19% have a complete slate or expressed support for 12 possible senatorial candidates.

A total of 2,400 adults were interviewed face-to-face for the survey. It has a ±2% error margin at the 95% confidence level. Subnational estimates for the geographic areas covered in the survey have the following error margins at 95% confidence level: ±4% for Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. —AOL, GMA News
