Veteran lawyer Jose Sison passes away at age 88
Veteran lawyer Jose C. Sison has died at the age of 88, his son, former Quezon City Vice Mayor Jose “Jopet” Sison, announced on Thursday.
“This morning, July 23, 2026, our Papa Ping peacefully joined our Creator. We are comforted that he lived a full life as a lawyer, a husband to Josie, a father to his six children, and a grandfather to his sixteen grandchildren. Please keep him in your prayers and remember him with love and fond memories,” Jopet Sison said in a Facebook post.
According to the family’s announcement, Jose Sison passed away on Thursday morning. No cause of death was disclosed.
The wake will begin on Friday afternoon, July 24, at the Ascension Chapel of the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City.
His interment is scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, at Heavens Gate 1 Memorial Park in Antipolo City. The family said the time will be announced later.
Born on April 7, 1938, Sison was a respected member of the legal profession whose career spanned several decades. –Sherylin Untalan/NB, GMA News
