Sara Duterte: I will never resign

Vice President Sara Duterte said that she will never resign from her post as it would be a betrayal of the 32.2 million Filipinos who voted for her.

"Oh, never gonna happen. Hindi ako magreresign dahil 'yun ay parang betrayal sa 32.2 million na mga kababayan natin na bumoto sa akin (I won't resign because it would be like betraying the 32.2 million people who voted for me)," Duterte said in an interview posted on the Facebook page of Padayon & Updates on Sunday.

She said if President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. wanted to get rid of her, he could remove her.

"Kung gusto ni BBM tanggalin niya ako, gawin niya ang lahat, tanggalin niya ako (If BBM wants, he could remove me. He could try everything to remove me)," Duterte said.

Duterte is currently facing an impeachment trial over alleged misuse of confidential and intelligence funds, unexplained wealth, and betrayal of public trust. She has denied any wrongdoing and has described the impeachment case as politically motivated.

Meanwhile, in a speech before the Filipino community in London on Saturday, Duterte criticized the Philippine government for alleged corruption.

"Dahil napakaraming 'buwaya' sa Pilipinas,” Duterte said. “Ang nangyari sa ating mga Pilipino, nagkanya-kanya tayo. Yung mga nakaupo, umangat, nagkaroon, nakapangyarihan, naging makasarili."
