Over 370,000 people affected by Kiyapo —NDRRMC

A total of 372,517 people or 80,756 families have been affected by Tropical Storm Kiyapo (international name Noul), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.

In its 6 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said 6,441 persons or 1,538 families were inside the 27 evacuation centers.

Three people were reported dead in Davao and Sarangani, while one person was reported missing in Sarangani.

The NDRRMC said 678 houses were damaged. Of the number, 247 were destroyed while 431 sustained partial damage.

The government has also provided a total of P20,235,857 in assistance to the affected residents.

Kiyapo left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday.

It caused widespread rains during its stay, triggering flooding in several areas across the country.

Videos and reports compiled by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao showed the extent of heavy flooding across Davao City.

In low-lying communities, floodwaters submerged several areas in Barangay Talomo Proper.

It also triggered widespread flooding and landslides in several parts of Northern Luzon —AOL, GMA News
