LTO permanently revokes license of car driver over fake plate, other violations

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has permanently revoked the driver's license of the driver of a German sedan, which previously figured in the alleged use of an unauthorized blinker and an alleged impersonation of a diplomat.

In a statement, the LTO said its Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) also found the driver liable for driving without a driver's license, improper attachment or tampering of license plates, and improper person to operate a vehicle.

The LTO said the decision came after the Volkswagen Jetta was again apprehended for bearing an unauthorized license plate.

Verification of the vehicle's official receipt and certificate of registration showed that the license plate attached to the car did not match LTO records and was registered under another person's name.

Aside from the permanent revocation of his driver's license, the driver was ordered to pay the corresponding fines and process the transfer of the vehicle's ownership under his name.

The Volkswagen Jetta remains impounded and under the custody of the LTO's Field Enforcement Division (FED), while the confiscated unauthorized or customized license plate is being kept by the IID as evidence in the case.
