The Philippine National Police (PNP) said Thursday that it believes Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa is most likely still in the Philippines as authorities continue to monitor his possible whereabouts.

During a press briefing, PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police are processing information and checking locations linked to the senator.

“We are looking at the different places of the whereabouts of friends, relatives, as well as kung sino yung lagi niyang kasama [other possible companions]. And most probably is nandito siya sa Pilipinas [he is still in the Philippines],” Nartatez said.

Asked whether the PNP had received intelligence information on the senator's location, Nartatez said authorities continuously receive information but stressed that such reports still undergo verification and intelligence processing.

“This information ay pina-process natin [We are processing the information] such that this becomes intelligence. That's how to use intelligence,” he said.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) based in The Hague has issued a warrant of arrest for Dela Rosa in connection with the crimes against humanity case against former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte and Dela Rosa are alleged co-conspirators in the charges of crimes against humanity of murder and attempted murder, related to the killings during Duterte's war on drugs when he was president and when the ex-president was mayor of Davao City. — BM, GMA News
