Leni Robredo, Vince Dizon meet Cardinal Ambo David in Naga City

Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon met with Cardinal Pablo Virgilio "Ambo" David on Thursday.

In a contributed photo, the three could be seen chatting while seated at a table. Detauls of their discussion was not disclosed.

This is not the first time that Dizon has visited the former vice president in Naga City.

A meeting between Dizon and Robredo last June fueled speculation about a possible tandem in the 2028 presidential race, but Dizon dismissed the political talk, saying they were there to work.

In a Facebook post from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Dizon and Robredo jointly inspected the Sagop Creek in Naga City before the national government turned over equipment.

“Nagpadala ang DPWH ng dalawang bagong excavator sa City Government of Naga, kasunod ng utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na suportahan ang lokal na pamahalaan para sa regular na dredging ng mga heavily silted waterways upang hindi na maranasan ang matinding pagbaha na naranasan ng lungsod noong Bagyong Kristine,” the agency said.

(The DPWH sent two new excavators to the City Government of Naga, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to support local governments in regular dredging in heavily silted waterways so that the city would no longer have to experience flooding like what happened with Cyclone Kristine.)

Kristine was one of the consecutive storms that ravaged the country in 2024, which caused widespread flooding and landslides.

While he was in Naga, Dizon also announced the dismissal of the district engineer of the Camarines Sur 1st District Engineering Office.

The district engineer was sacked due to his alleged failure to put up enough road safety signs during an ongoing street renovation, which led to a road crash in Barangay Magaid, Del Gallego in Camarines Sur.

Dizon also vowed to hold the contractor of the project accountable for the lack of signs. –NB, GMA News
