More than 100 passengers, truck drivers, cargo helpers stranded, says PCG

More than 100 passengers, truck drivers, cargo helpers are stranded in nine ports in different parts of the country that are being monitored by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday, August 11, 2026.

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the PCG monitored the affected areas are: Western Visayas, Southern Tagalog, and Central Visayas.

In Western Visayas, there are 94 passengers, 46 rolling cargoes, and two vessels stranded at the Alegria Port and in Barangay Union, Nabas in Aklan.

There are two vessels taking shelter from the effects of the southwest monsoon (habagat).

In Southern Tagalog, the ports covered are:

• Pola Port
• San Agustin Port
• Batangas Port
• Calatagan Port
• Wawa Port

Meanwhile, there are five vessels, five tug boats, two barges that are taking shelter.

In Central Visayas, the ports covered are the Hagnaya Port in San Remigio town in Cebu and Pier 1 in Cebu City.

There are at least 14 passengers, seven rolling cargoes, and one vessel that are stranded while seven vessels, five tug boats and two barges are taking shelter. — BAP, GMA News
