DOLE pledges to contest Pasig court's order suspending NCR wage increase

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) vowed to challenge and work for the nullification of the Pasig Regional Trial Court’s decision to extend the suspension on the minimum wage hike in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The Pasig RTC issued a preliminary injunction on the P85 minimum wage increase, extending its suspension.

"We will use all the legal means to fight and void this decision, and to fight for the rights of our workers. Behind every worker is a family that is dependent on their salary for food, home and decent living," Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino said in Filipino.

Tolentino slammed the decision from the Pasig court, saying that it did not just stop the wage hike, but actively removed food from a family’s table.

Every peso counted during a time like this, Tolentino said.

“We will not leave them behind. We will fight until we find a solution and our workers get what is rightfully theirs," Tolentino said. –NB, GMA News
