22 dead due to Luis, Maymay, Habagat
At least 22 people have been reported dead because due to Luis, Maymay and the Habagat, according to the figures from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) released on Saturday.
Benguet recorded the most number of fatalities with 15. This includes the 10 people who died in the Baguio landslide.
The NDRRMC also reported deaths in La Union, Rizal, and Batangas.
Meanwhile, three people are still missing: one from Alaminos in Pangasinan, one from Batangas City in Batangas, and another from Candelaria in Quezon.
NDRMMC estimates that aroun 4.8 million people have been affected by the three weather systems, with 44,7000 people or 14,6000 families still residing inside evacuation centers.
At least 1,800 houses were also damaged because of the bad weather with 1,600 of them being partially damaged and 178 being totally damaged.
Damage to infrastructure is estimated at P3.3 billion, while agricultural damage is estimated to be P689.7 million.
The government has provided over P592.5 million in assistance. —VAL, GMA News
