Palace confirms resignation of DOH Usecs Escolango, Baggao

Malacañang on Saturday confirmed the resignation of Department of Health (DOH) undersecretaries Randy Escolango and Matthew Baggao.

"Confirmed... in relation to DOH USecs," said Palace Press Officer Claire Castro when asked by reporters if they resigned last Monday.

Escolango, along with former Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, is facing graft, grave misconduct, and related complaints filed by a group of concerned employees of the DOH. This is over the alleged unlawful appointment of Escolango to multiple key posts.

Baggao, meanwhile, is facing complaints for two counts of graft, as well as violation of the Procurement Law and the Code of Conduct for Public Officials and Employees filed by a group identified as Concerned Health Workers in the Office of the Ombudsman.
