PNP-HPG personnel relieved from post over alleged confrontation with BOC personnel
The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group ordered the relief from their posts of its personnel allegedly involved in a confrontation with Bureau of Customs operatives in Bulacan.
The said PNP-HPG personnel, assigned to the Regional Highway Patrol Unit-NCR, were then reassigned to the Human Resources Management and Doctrine Development Division-Personnel Holding and Accounting Section effective August 20, according to PNP-HPG Director Police Brigadier General Rommel Batangan over the weekend.
Batangan said the order was made to ensure impartial investigation into the incident.
"Appropriate action will be taken based on the findings, in accordance with due process," Batangan said.
The said alleged confrontation occurred during the destruction of confiscated smuggled cigarettes in Bulacan.
"The PNP-HPG will continue to uphold professionalism, discipline, accountability, and respect for partner government agencies," Batangan said. —KG, GMA News
