QC court holds oral arguments on grave threats case vs. Sara Duterte

A Quezon City court on Tuesday held oral arguments on Vice President Sara Duterte's motion to quash her grave threats case over her remark that she hired an individual to kill President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and others if she dies.

"The matter being sub judice, we unfortunately cannot give further explanation. We will now await the court's resolution on our motion," lawyer Paul Lawrence Lim, Duterte's legal counsel, said in a statement.

In early August, the DOJ filed three counts of grave threats against the vice president.

Duterte, however, filed a motion to quash on the ground of jurisdiction, arguing that she and other impeachable officers have limited procedural immunity while in office under the 1987 Constitution.

She has previously said that her remarks were "maliciously taken out of logical context."

Her alleged grave threats is the basis of one of the Articles of Impeachment against her in the ongoing Senate impeachment trial, which wrapped up its 18th day of proceedings today, Tuesday. — VDV, GMA New
