NLEX traffic remains heavy amid flooding, rising Pampanga River

Several portions of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) have been experiencing heavy traffic since Sunday due to flooding and rising water levels in the Pampanga River, with congestion still reported as of 6:30 p.m. Monday.

According to NLEX’s motorist advisory on road and traffic conditions as of 5 p.m. on Monday, the Libtong exit has been temporarily closed due to flooding at a local road.

In both the northbound and southbound sides of the NLEX, Lanes 1 and 2 in the Tulaoc area in San Simon is passable for Class 2 and 3 vehicles, while Lane 3 is not passable for Class 1 vehicles.

At the San Simon Interchange, Lanes 1 and 2 are passable for Class 2 and 3 vehicles, while Lane 3 is not passable for Class 1 vehicles

Both areas on the northbound and southbound sides are experiencing heavy traffic.

The reason for the situation is water build-up in all lanes due to the water level of the Pampanga River.

On the northbound side, the Candaba Viaduct is passable for all types of vehicles but is also experiencing heavy traffic, like the San Simon areas.

On the southbound side of the NLEX, there is heavy traffic in the Tulaoc area, San Simon Interchange, and Mexico exit.

Balintawak, Valenzuela, Meycauayan, and Bocaue are passable for all types of vehicles and are experiencing light traffic. –Sherylin Untalan/NB/MCG, GMA News
